FORGE
AI gym, yoga and home training — web, Android and Wear OS
FORGE plans, runs and adapts training across gym, yoga and home sessions, and keeps nutrition, recovery and progress in the same place. At its centre is an AI coach with its own personality and memory: it builds the week's plan, generates sessions, answers questions mid-workout, checks in on a schedule, and can be replied to straight from a notification.
Workouts come from an exercise library with guides and a muscle map, from favourites and saved sessions, or from a generator seeded in athlete mode for speed, power and agility work. A level system moves each athlete from Level 0 towards Elite, with knowledge quizzes that gate promotion.
Nutrition logging takes text, a photo, a recipe, a restaurant meal or a catalog pick; the coach works out the macros, and foods it has costed before return instantly without an AI call. Macros are matched against USDA FoodData Central. Meals can be planned by local cuisine, with the day compared to target and a grocery list to shop it.
Progress covers weight check-ins, tape measurements, strength and volume graphs, and daily body photos with pose analysis and day-one comparisons. Recovery reads the body's own signals.
On Android the app is native Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, reading steps, weight, heart rate, resting heart rate and heart-rate variability from Health Connect. The Wear OS companion runs the workout on the wrist — player, heart-rate and exercise monitoring, a Tile and a watch-face complication — linked to the phone. State syncs across devices, sign-in is with Google, and the web app sends push notifications.
Architecture
Three clients on one training state. The Next.js web app (TypeScript, React, Tailwind CSS) holds the API: coach, vision, food-photo, nutrition, generator parsing, push and cross-device sync, backed by MongoDB. The Android app is native Kotlin with Jetpack Compose, Room for local storage, WorkManager for scheduled check-ins and Credential Manager for Google sign-in, and reads Health Connect. A shared wearlink module carries plans and results between the phone and the Wear OS app, which is built with Compose for Wear OS, Tiles and a complication. The coach runs on Claude through AWS Bedrock; nutrition is matched against USDA FoodData Central.
